Network Folder Access Denied

Postby avec_techadmin » Tue Jan 17, 2017 7:47 pm

We started getting errors a few weeks ago for some of our network folders:

ERROR
Item: \\PADC02\shares.padc02\home
Destination: \\panasserver\Backup\test\UraniumBackup-Tuesday\home00.zip
Details: Error during the creation of the zip file: Possible compression error: zip file size is less/equal to 22 bytes and could be corrupt or the compressed directory could be empty (check the filter options/date/exclusions) (Not able to add all files and folders. Files could be locked by other programs or could have wrong/too long path. Also verify folder permissions.)No. of compressed files: 0 - Number of file/folders that generated errors: 31 - Zip file size: 10.31 KB
Date and time: 1/17/2017 10:40:10 AM

Folder error: \\PADC02\shares.padc02\home\AClausen\

Source: \\PADC02\shares.padc02\home\AClausen\
Destination: \\panasserver\Backup\test\UraniumBackup-Tuesday\home00.zip
Details: Access is denied

And so forth. We've checked all our folder permissions and share permissions, and everything is in order. I even created a test 7zip backup from the backup server where Uranium runs, using the same domain user we are using in Uranium, and it is having no problem grabbing files from these folders and creating a zip backup. This has basically rendered our Uranium backup to zip file useless, as it cannot touch several of the most important folders.

We have tried multiple users, all with Domain Admin and Administrators memberships, and they all fail. We have changed the Network Authentication user in both the main Uranium configuration and in specific folders. The fact that running a test zip in scheduled tasks under the same user points to Uranium as the culprit here.

I managed to solve this one. The service was running as local system user, and not as a user with permissions to read these shares.
